‘Granny tax’ U-turn calls

A LOTHIAN MP has called on the UK Government to perform three more U-turns to alleviate “gross unfairness at the heart of the Budget”.

Fiona O’Donnell, who represents East Lothian in Westminster, has railed against coalition plans to implement a tax cut for top-rate taxpayers as well as changes to the age-related allowance, commonly known as the “granny tax”.

Ms O’Donnell said: “It’s deeply unfair for the
government to be taking
£3 billion out of the pockets of pensioners so that they can put £40,000 in the pockets of
millionaires.”
