Grant cash lets pupils visit Auschwitz

MORE cash has been released to allow Lothians school pupils the chance to visit the site of one of history’s most terrible atrocities.

It means hundreds of youngsters will be able to go on the 24-hour trip to the Auschwitz concentration camp, to be taken round by trained guides and a Rabbi.

It is part of the Holocaust Education Trust’s Lessons from Auschwitz project, which it says helps young people learn the consequences of racism and prejudice.

Karen Pollock, chief executive of the trust, said: “We are delighted that the Scottish Government sees the value of our work – as the Holocaust passes further into history, it is more important than ever to ensure that future generations understand what happened during that dark time.”
