Gym shows pedal power to break record

FITNESS fanatics at a city gym have helped break a world record for the biggest ever communal cycling machine class.

Dozens of residents took part in the bid at the Virgin Active gym at Fountainbridge.

They synchronised their fitness class with 250 gyms across the UK, as well as leisure clubs in South Africa, Australia and Italy.

The successful mission raised money for Macmillan Cancer Care and Virgin’s partner charity, Sparks.

Colin Muir, the gym’s manager in the Capital, said: “Members at our Virgin Active club loved taking part in the Pedal to the Medal event and we’re thrilled to have managed to break the world record and raise money for such worthy causes. A few of the members are already asking if we can try to beat our record again.”
