Stricken health care group Southern Cross is remaining tight-lipped over the future of a Bonnyrigg care home under its ownership.
An announcement that the national care home operator is to cease operating its 752 facilities in the UK has caused concern among residents and 65 members of staff at Springfield Bank Nursing Home.
The GMB union has speculated that the Bonnyrigg home will be taken back by landlord Libra Careco Offshore Topco Ltd, which is based in the Cayman Islands. However, Southern Cross has given no assurances as to when a new care provider will be identified.
