Hibs hand trial to Polish right-back Filip Modelski

Neil Lennon has revealed there could be further arrivals at Easter Road even although the transfer window is shut, with Hibs having taken Polish defender Filip Modelski on trial.

As the Evening News reported on transfer-deadline day, there was an interest in the 23-year-old, although that appeared to cool as the window closed. However, that interest has now been rekindled with Modelski, who would be seen as cover for captain David Gray at right-back, training at East Mains.

Modelski, pictured, who left Jagellonia Bialystock at the end of last season, would still be
allowed to sign outwith the window as he is a free agent.

Although he had hoped to add one new face during the week, Lennon was delighted not to have lost any of his top assets. He said: “We were
hoping to get maybe one in and we spoke with a couple of clubs but couldn’t get anything agreed in time. But I’m pretty happy with what I’ve got.

“It was good to get our business done early and we’re pretty comfortable with the business we have done. Right-back is a position we want to strengthen as we’ve only got David at the minute. If we were to lose him we might need to rethink the formation and we don’t want to do that.”
