Police Scotland carried out a day of action yesterday (Thursday, August 20) to tackle housebreaking across East Lothian and Midlothian.
Officers from across the Lothians took part in the co-ordinated day of action, which targeted suspects who were wanted in connection with thefts by housebreakings and associated offences.
In total eight men were detained and interviewed, and a total of 12 offences were detected. Six people have been reported to the Procurator Fiscal and one will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today (Friday, 21st August).
Chief Inspector Kenny Simpson, Local Area Commander for Midlothian said: “Housebreaking is a heartless crime, which violates the victim’s sense of security.
“Tackling it is a top priority for police in the Lothians and today’s Operation RAC activity targeted those who perpetrate the crimes.
“We will carry on relentlessly pursuing those individuals who undertake housebreaking and will continue to bring them to justice.”
