Melville Housing Association has launched its Great Gardens competition for 2016.

Open to all Melville tenants, the winner of this year’s contest will receive £100 of vouchers with two runners-up receiving £35 each.

The inaugural 2015 competition was won by Mr Robert Collins of Lawrie Drive, Penicuik, for his ‘beautiful but understated’ garden that made excellent use of light while maximising a relatively small space.

“Last year’s garden competition was a great success,” said Melville Chief Executive Andrew Noble. “I was extremely impressed by the calibre of entries and I’m really looking forward to seeing how the entries for this year measure up.”

Completed entry forms for the Baxter Keiller Prize, named in memory of a keen Melville tenant who, along with his neighbour Christine McGrouther, transformed a patch of Mayfield wasteland into a fantastic community garden, must be returned no later than 5pm on Friday, July 15, 2016.

Winners will be announced at Melville’s Annual General Meeting in September.
