Inquiry into Dione Melville's death continues

Dione Melville is understood to have been at a friend’s house in East Calder on Sunday morning when she fell ill and was taken to St John’s Hospital.

She died a short time later, just a month shy of her 16th birthday. It is understood police are investigating whether her death was caused by drugs.

A 15-year-old boy was arrested and charged with supplying drugs in East Calder on the same day as Dione died.

Meanwhile, tributes have continued to pour in for the teenager, who was a pupil at West Calder High School.

Dione’s death is a second tragedy for the school after fund­raising hero Jak Trueman lost a battle with cancer last year. On her Facebook page, Dione had shown her support for the continued efforts to raise cash in the wake of Jak’s death.
