‘Inspirational’ Woodburn mum Lisa fulfils her dying wish

A young mum fulfilled her dying wish by marrying her sweetheart just hours before passing away.

In a touching bedside ceremony Lisa Ruthven (22) became Mrs Robertson – 18 hours before losing her battle with cancer.

Described by her family as “unique”, Lisa, of Woodburn Street, Woodburn, was diagnosed with terminal cancer of the bile duct in October. Doctors said she would be lucky to see Christmas.

Lisa, who had suffered from Crohn’s disease since the age of 10, attended gruelling chemotherapy sessions at the Western General hospital in Edinburgh, but the cancer spread into her liver, stomach and lungs.

She was set to marry Robbie Robertson (21), the father of her 21-month-old daughter Orla, in June. But as her health began to deteriorate last week, her fiance, from Livingston, was forced to speed things along.
