A SPECIAL event to celebrate Islam and nature is to be held at Lord Ancrum’s Wood in Dalkeith this Sunday.
Run by Forestry Commission Scotland, the ‘Eid in the Woodlands’ event coincides with the end of Ramadan and will involve celebratory games, a halal picnic, a treasure hunt for children and talks on Islam, nature and the environment.
Romena Huq, engagement officer for Forestry Commission Scotland, commented: “We are very excited about this event, which aims to bring together Muslim and other faith communities with people interested in finding out more about Islam, to celebrate Eid in a wonderful woodland setting.
“Along with lots of celebratory activities and games, we are making a special outdoor prayer space, so that we can really make the link with the importance of nature in Islam.
“It will be a very family focused event, and everyone is welcome to come along.”
Booking for the event, which starts at 11am, is essential.
