Janitor banned after drink-drive car crash confession

Thomas Crawford, 35, then waited by the wreckage of the two vehicles until police arrived to give him a breath test.

Livingston Sheriff Court was told that he failed a roadside breath test and was eventually found to have a breath-alcohol count of 82mg – the legal limit is 35mg.

Crawford, of Armadale, West Lothian, pleaded guilty 
yesterday to drink-driving near his home on November 19.

Kate O’Hara, prosecuting, said: “He told police that he’d been drinking and was sorry.”

Peter Mullin, defending, said West Lothian Council had allowed Crawford to switch schools so he didn’t have to drive during the day.

Crawford was fined £500 and banned from driving for 18 months.

Sheriff Robert Fife told him: “The reading is high. It’s more than two times the prescribed limit.”
