Traditional singer Jim Malcolm, the former lead singer of the Old Blind Dogs, will be performing at Penicuik Folk Club next month.
The concert will be held in Shottstown Miners’ Club, John Street, Penicuik, on Tuesday, May 3 at 8pm.
Now working solo, Jim was lead singer with the multi-award-winning Old Blind Dogs for eight years. Jim was also songwriter of the year in the Scots Trad Music Awards in 2004 and is the most nominated Scots singer for the Scots Singer of the Year Award.
With family roots in Perthshire and Strathclyde, Jim has been a professional musician since graduating from Edinburgh University. He has performed the length and breadth of the country and toured in England, Ireland, Denmark, Germany and Uganda. He has released ten solo CDs.
On Tuesday, June 14, the folk club welcomes Jennie Sturgeon and Jonny Hardie to the miners’ club at 8pm.
The folk club meets every Tuesday evening from 8.30pm to 11pm for a friendly, lightly-hosted, songs-and-tunes session.
Visitors are welcome and it is always relaxed and supportive. Just listen, join in, air new songs or find your own musical feet.
