Jog along to fitness group

Jog Scotland is encouraging people to join its network of local running groups and get fit for 2012.

The organisation offers running groups of all levels, many of which are based in workplaces.

Karen Rafferty, who runs with the Edinburgh University group, said: “Our Jog Scotland group goes out at lunchtimes and as a rule we try not to talk about work – that way we can treat our session as a break from our nine-to-five routine and really benefit from it. Since I’ve started running I’ve toned up, lost weight and feel more energised, it’s great.”

Retired postmaster Alistair Main, of the Meadowmill group in East Lothian added: “The beginners’ course is brilliant at getting you up off your sofa and jogging – even me.”
