‘Keith’ the cat found injured in Dalkeith

The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after a cat was found with an abscess on his head in Dalkeith.

Scotland’s animal welfare charity was alerted on Monday, July 7, when the male tabby cat was discovered on St Andrew Street.

The cat is now in the care of the Scottish SPCA’s centre in Lanarkshire, where he has been named Keith.

Scottish SPCA Senior Inspector John Toule said, “It’s quite possible Keith’s injury is the result of a fight with another cat.

“He is now on a course of antibiotics to treat the abscess.

“Keith would have been in some pain so we are glad we have been able to give him the help he needs.

“We’re hoping Keith’s owner might come forward after seeing our appeal but if no-one claims him we’ll find him a loving new home.”

Anyone with information is being asked to contact the Scottish SPCA animal helpline on 03000 999 999.
