YOUNG people in Midlothian have planted the seeds for a community project.
Kinship Carers is developing a garden beside Newbattle Community Learning Centre and children are being encouraged to get their green fingers into the soil.
The organisation provides support for vulnerable children, between four and 14, who live with relatives or friends.
Project leader Jim Crombie said Kinship Carers had been looking for a suitable site to create a garden.
He said: “We applied for the ground at the centre on behalf of the kids, who were really enthusiastic about it.”
