Lasswade artist’s quick draw for animal charity

By sketching 100 creatures in as many days, an artist has raised £16,830 for the Scottish Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Animals.

Animal loving Helen Wilson (45) made the pledge in February, before spending up to three hours a night sketching dogs, cats, horses, wildlife and farm animals.

Her drawings went up for auction on facebook, with proceeds from the highest bidders going to the animal charity.

Enjoying some relaxation time at home this week, the Lasswade training consultant told the Advertiser: “I travel to England and Europe a lot through my work, and I had naïvely hoped that I would be able to sketch in hotels but that didn’t work in practice.”
