Latest census figures show increased population in Midlothian

The population of Midlothian has grown slightly in the last 10 years.

Census 2011 figures have revealed an increase of 2.8 per cent from 80,900 in 2001 to 83,200 a decade later.

The number of people aged 65 and over living here is up by 14.6 per cent, while the amount of under 15s in the county has dropped by 8.1 per cent.
