Leith artist’s work auction

A RARE and colourful collage created by Leith-born sculptor Sir Eduardo Paolozzi for a spectacular tapestry is expected to fetch thousands of pounds at auction today.

The abstract collage, which features dozens of brightly-coloured printed pieces of paper, was the basis of his Pearson Tapestry, woven by experts at the Dovecot Studios in 1996.

The 34 x 47cm piece will be sold at Shapes in Sighthill, where it is expected to fetch up to £6000.

Gavin Lindsay, senior auctioneer at Shapes, said: “We expect international interest.”
