Lennon attack: man in court
A MAN has appeared in Edinburgh Sheriff Court charged with committing a breach of the peace and assaulting Celtic manager Neil Lennon.
John Wilson, 26, is alleged to have committed the offences during a game between Hearts and Celtic at Tynecastle in May. Both offences were alleged to have been aggravated by religious prejudice.
Defence advocate David Nicholson said his client pleaded not guilty to running at the away team dug-out, shouting, swearing, making a sectarian remark to the alarm and annoyance of others, thereby causing further disturbance and committing a breach of the peace.
He also denied assaulting Neil Lennon by seizing him around the neck.
The trial date has been set for August 29 and Sheriff Alistair Noble again remanded Wilson in custody.
