Dalkeith town centre

I was disappointed to see that as part of the Dalkeith town centre improvements the original blue enamelled sign showing Wilson’s Close (a little piece of history) has been removed and replaced by an uncharacteristic stone, at pavement level with Wilson’s Close on it.

The money spent on this stone should rather have been put towards the cost of providing a small kerb around the setts showing where the last public hanging in Dalkeith took place (another piece of history) outside the Tolbooth, to prevent motor vehicles parking over the spot.
