Letters to the Editor

Inappropriate action

I am writing to express my disappointment in the actions of my local Councillor Alex Bennett who went on Radio 5 live to advertise the fact that he and his friends were having a party to celebrate the death of Lady Thatcher.

I realise that everyone has their own opinions on Lady Thatcher and I have no problem with the fact that he dislikes her policies.

But what I do get angry about is that he is a representative of Midlothian Council and I feel his behaviour was not appropriate. To go on national radio and advertise that he will be celebrating anyone’s death (not their life) irrespective of politics, is in my opinion, ignorant, unbelievably impolite and not behaviour fitting for an elected council member.
