Loanhead woman Jessie Hogg recently celebrated her 90th birthday with family and friends.
She also took the opportunity to support Macmillan Cancer Care by raising £710 from a collection at her party.
Jessie, nee Clapperton, has lived all her life in Loanhead. She met her husband Jackie at a dance in Loanhead Miners’ Club and they married in 1945. They had three daughters.
Jackie worked for Midlothian Council as a school cleaner and then at the Loanhead council offices as a cleaner/caretaker. She worked as a cleaner at MacTaggart Scott for a few years before retiring.
After marrying Jessie, Jackie worked for Young & Son, coal merchants, in Loanhead. Later he worked for Lothian Regional Council in the roads department until he retired.
The couple celebrated their diamond wedding in 2005. Sadly Jackie died in 2007.
