A prominent Midlothian “eyesore” could be in for a facelift at last.
The site of the derelict Callyr Inn, Straiton Road, Loanhead, has been lying unused for years.
Councillors voted in favour last week of granting planning permission in principle, subject to conditions, for a retail development on the site, which will involve demolishing the former pub.
Straiton Park Limited lodged an appeal with the local authority after consent was refused in January. The company claimed it was in the process of gathering additional information for planning officers when its plans were knocked back.
