Robert Pentland received an extra special gift on his 98th birthday recently.
His anniversary co-incided with the annual general meeting of his beloved Loanhead and District Cage Bird Society where members unanimously agreed he become the club’s honorary vice-president.
Robert is the club’s longest serving member, having joined in 1937. He was instrumental in helping re-establish the club after the Second World War.
Club members and two of the club’s junior members visited Robert celebrate his birthday.
The youngsters, who presented Robert with birthday cards, were Curtis Owen (14) from Easthouses, who keeps Fife Fancy and Gloster canaries, and Jamie Forbes (8) from Mayfield, who keeps Zebra Finches.
