Loanhead Community Council’s chairman was full of praise for the new Loanhead Centre at his group’s first meeting there.
The first project to be developed in partnership with Scottish Futures Trust, Midlothian and NHS Lothian through the Integrated Joint Board, the new £15.4 million facility at Loanhead, incorporates the local primary school, library, leisure centre, medical centre and early years’ provision.
Speaking at his group’s meeting last week, community council chairman Pat Kenny said: “I would like to congratulate Midlothian Council, the contractors and all the staff involved in the changeover . Especially Maurice McCann who has been the link between us, the community, and the contractors. I know there is still work to be finished but it was open on time and it’s a fantastic facility.”
Midlothian Council leader Derek Milligan said that while there’s minor snagging such as paint touch-ups, the “exciting” centre is now fully open to the public. He added: “The centre in Loanhead demonstrates what can be achieved when the council and community work together in partnership.”
