Lochhead to make radical appearance at book fair

this year’s Edinburgh Independent Radical Book Fair will run from October 26 to 30 at the Out of the Blue Drill Hall in Dalmeny Street.

The event will be opened by psychologist and writer Carol Gilligan at 7pm, who will give a talk titled Joining the Resistance. The opening evening will also include an appearance from Scotland’s Makar, Liz Lochhead, who will read from her latest collection, A Choosing, at 8.30pm.

Other events include the launch of Jean Bareham’s book, Gardens of the Royal Mile, on October 27, a writing and handmade book workshop called A Haiku in My Pocket on October 28, and the screening of three Middle Eastern short films, The Confession, A Palestinian Poet in Beirut, and Road to Damascus, on October 28.

It is the 15th year of the annual book festival.
