Lock up your cars, drivers
are advised

POLICE are warning residents to keep valuables kept in cars out of sight after a spate of thefts in East Lothian.

Eight break-ins since Thursday have seen items such as iPads, DVDs, money, mobile phones and cameras stolen.

A number of vehicles have also been taken in Haddington, Tranent and Ormiston.

One car was stolen from Gateside Avenue, Haddington, on Friday evening with three motorbikes also taken from Duries Park and Coalgate Avenue, in Tranent, and Park Road, Ormiston.

Police inspector Bob Rodriguez said: “Enquiries are ongoing to determine whether these thefts are linked. I would encourage local residents in the area to visit our website for valuable crime prevention advice on how to keep your car and home safe, and to always ensure that motorcycles are kept appropriately secure and immobilised when parked and unattended.”
