Lorry driver overturns

A MAN was taken to hospital after the lorry he was driving overturned in Midlothian.

The driver, thought to be in his fifties, escaped the incident with only cuts and bruises, emergency services confirmed this morning.

That is despite the fact the vehicle he was driving weighed 30 tonnes.

The incident took place at Easter Howgate, near Penicuik, shortly before 7pm last night.

A spokeswoman for the fire service said today: “The male casualty was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.”
