Lothian bus buggy ban lifted

Lothian Buses is lifting its ban on non-collapsible buggies.

From April 30, all 55 routes in Edinburgh and the Lothians will allow prams and pushchairs on the 650-strong bus fleet.

The bus operator changed its heart following a recent study into how accessibility affects passenger groups, including the disabled, elderly and infirm, parents and carers. More than 50 per cent of Lothian Buses’ passengers now travel on vehicles offering both dedicated wheelchair and buggy space.

The new rules will allow all prams, pushchairs and travel systems which do not obstruct the aisle to be carried on all Lothian Buses’ services.
