A project to help women experiencing domestic violence feel safer in their homes is to receive £500,000 from the Big Lottery Fund.

SMILE, will build on the success of a pilot scheme run by Mid and East Lothian Councils and Women’s Aid Mid and East Lothian.

The cash will pay for an extra domestic abuse adviser to offer support for women in their own homes. An early intervention worker will provide crisis intervention for incidents attended by police outwith normal working hours.
