Man charged over death of pedestrian in New Town

A MAN has been charged in connection with the death of a pedestrian in a collision in the New Town in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police said a 50-year-old man was due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today after 43-year-old Gavin Fulton was killed as he walked along the pavement in Dundas Street. The father of two was rushed to hospital but died of his injuries.

Tributes have been paid to Mr Fulton, a tournament-winning squash player and member of the Grange squash club.

Bill Fulton, his father, said: “Gavin lived for his family, he was much loved and we will all miss him very much.”

Mr Fulton is survived by his wife, Jill, and two daughters, Mia and Faye. His wife said: “Gavin and I taught our children to be road wise and stay on the pavements where they are safe.

“Mia, Faye and I along with Gavin’s family are devastated that he was not safe on the pavement.”
