Man in court after police officer kicked in head

A man has appeared in court in connection with an incident in which a police officer was allegedly kicked on the head and suffered a broken eye socket.

William McSeveney, 27, from West Calder was charged with assault to severe injury and two further police assaults.He also faces an allegation that he committed a statutory breach of the peace during the same incident in Polbeth, West Lothian, last weekend.

McSeveney made no plea or declaration during a private hearing on petition at Livingston Sheriff Court.

He was remanded in custody and is expected to appear for full committal next week.

Co-accused Aimee Bell, 21, also from West Calder, was charged with obstructing the police and breach of the peace.

She made no plea or declaration and was released on bail pending further inquiries.
