MELVILLE Homes have been quick to offer support to their 450 tenants affected by the bedroom tax.
Almost everyone under pension age (61 and seven months) and in receipt of benefits is likely to be affected by this welfare reform, which is implemented in April.
A spokesperson for Melville Housing Association revealed their plan of action: “We have advisers who can help work out how much housing benefit customers might lose, what other benefits they may be entitled to and how to save money through budgeting. There are also other options available such as moving to a smaller property or taking in a lodger.”
