Dalkeith Arts Music and Events (DAME) has launched its annual Spring Open Arts and Crafts Exhibition.
Running until May 4, the exhibition and associated workshops and events are taking place in the Dalkeith Arts Centre.
Crafts by Bonnyrigg hand spinner and knitter Gilleoin Finlay-Coull feature in the exhibition.
She told the Advertiser: “I was born into a professional craft family and grew up with many different crafts, but was drawn to wool and spinning from an early age, mainly due to a fascination with a spinning wheel that my father had made and my mother’s ability as a knitter.
“Working with fibre and yarn allows me to draw inspiration from the colours, shapes and textures of the natural world around me, such as the colours of the sky at dawn or sunset, the way trees interlace, lean or fall in woodland, the different colours and textures of a grouse moor in Autumn.
“Exhibiting with DAME has given me an opportunity to showcase my work at a local level and hopefully inspire others to discover the joy of working with fibre and yarn.”
