Midlothian children join charity book swap

PRIMARY school pupils in Midlothian are being invited to swap books to assist a national charity.

ScottishPower wants schools to sign up for its Swap Shop initiative to encourage reading and raise money for Aberlour, which helps over 6,000 of Scotland’s most vulnerable children, young people and their families.

Local children are being asked to exchange book with classmates and donate 50 pence per swap.

Every school that participates will have the opportunity to win a visit from a leading children’s author participating in the Edinburgh International Book Festival.

The award-winning programme has already seen over 5,500 book swaps and thousands of pounds donated to local charities.
