Scottish councils have been offered a “strings attached” funding deal for 2011/12.
Last week, Finance Secretary John Swinney announced a £11.5 billion local government funding package but this is subject to the agreement of individual councils to meet certain conditions.
These include delivering a council tax freeze, meeting key education and social care commitments, and maintaining police numbers.
While other Scottish local authorities have been critical of the proposed Government’s funding, Midlothian Council is remaining tightlipped on what it will mean for local services.
