Plans to close all public toilets in Midlothian have been branded an “absolute disgrace”.
As previously reported in the Advertiser, Midlothian Council revealed it would carry out a review of the facilities at a budget meeting last month.
Now it has emerged that all five of the county’s toilets are to be closed in a bid to save £85,000 in the next financial year.
Thereafter, the council hopes to save £117,000 a year.
Council Leader Bob Constable (SNP) said: “None of these will shut until we’re confident that we’ve alternative facilities available nearby.
