A war of words has broken out following claims that an SNP councillor refused to support her party’s candidate for a new role.

Labour Group leader Derek Milligan said: “Lisa Beattie swears blind that she voted for her SNP colleague, but I was sitting opposite her and I can tell you – she refused to back him.”

Councillor Beattie hit back: “I can only reiterate that this is outrageous mischief making. I voted with my group.”
