Midlothian’s Lord Lieutenant Patrick Prenter is “very much” looking forward to attending the Royal wedding.

Mr Prenter, the Queen’s representative in the county, will be among the hundreds of guests in Westminster Abbey to witness the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

“I am absolutely delighted and honoured to be there. It will be fantastic,” he told the Advertiser.

Local celebrations to mark the marriage include a number of shops decorating their windows and a planned street party in John Bernard Way, Gorebridge. Villagers in Roslin are also to hold an afternoon tea party.
