Midlothian kitchen firm has extra punch

An expanding business that manufactures commercial kitchens is now punching above its weight thanks to the arrival of a new 30-ton CNC Punch.

Airco, based at Newbattle Abbey Business Park in Eskbank, unveiled the new arrival at a recent open day.

Managing Director John Crawford said that until now, each sheet of metal was manually measured and cut by a metal worker.

“Our new machine, which we affectionately call ‘The Punch’, not only memorises each configuration that comes our way, but it can cut a sheet of stainless or galvanised steel, or metal, to absolute precision in just ten minutes.”
