A MIDLOTHIAN mother inspired to become an antenatal teacher has now worked with more than 500 local couples.
After giving birth to her second daughter in 2002, Deborah Slater was so inspired by the National Childbirth Trust antenatal classes she had attended she decided to train as an antenatal teacher. Three years later – with a Diploma of Higher Education under her belt – she started teaching NCT classes in Dalkeith. Until then, parents-to-be had to go into Edinburgh if they wanted to attend NCT antenatal classes.
Deborah enjoys her job, particularly when ‘class reunions’ let her see all her clients’ babies.
