The importance of play in a child’s development has been highlighted at Midlothian Association of Play’s (MAP) recent conference.

Councillor Lisa Beattie (SNP), who made the opening address, said afterwards: “I was thrilled to see the turnout at the MAP conference.

“The commitment the delegates clearly demonstrated by giving up their personal time, when most people are busy making preparations for Christmas, was only topped by the very evident commitment to making Midlothian the best place for children to grow up.

“Thoughtful questions and shared visions for more and better opportunities for play to enhance the development of Midlothian’s children and how to achieve these was the order of business.

“I left the conference feeling confident that the importance of play will not be ignored or unrecognised as long as MAP members are around to care for and support our children.”
