Midlothian police probe knifepoint assault claim

Police are appealing for witnesses following a report that a man was assaulted in Dalkeith last week.

The incident is believed to have happened sometime between 4-7pm on Wednesday in the Glenarch Lodge car park, Melville Road, Dalkeith.

Officers are investigating after a 36-year-old reported being threatened at knifepoint while within his parked blue Subaru Impreza.

The man did not report the incident until road policing officers from Tayside Police spoke with him on Friday, October 7, after his car was involved in a vehicle collision. Police are now keen to speak with anyone who can assist with their enquiries.

A police spokesman said: “Officers are now investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident after it was brought to our attention by colleagues at Tayside.

“Anyone who was in the Melville Road area of Dalkeith between 4-7pm last Wednesday and remembers seeing anything suspicious in or around the Glenarch Lodge car park is asked to come forward to police.”

Anyone with any information can contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131, or Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111.
