A CHIMNEY taller than the Scott Monument will dominate a new waste treatment centre in Midlothian.
The visual impact of the project by Zero Waste: Edinburgh and Midlothian was highlighted at last week’s meeting of Midlothian Council’s planning committee.
Councillors granted planning permission in principle for the creation of waste treatment facilities at the former Millerhill marshalling yards.
The 20-hectare site in Whitehill Road will also feature a combined heat-and-power plant, offices, visitor centre and car park.
