MIDLOTHIAN Council has completed the first phase of its new social housing programme, bringing 864 affordable homes to the area in six years.
The last house in the last development for phase one has just been finished and the council is now ready to move on to the next phase.
Starting in 2006 and costing £108 million, the first phase has included developments in Dalkeith, Bonnyrigg, Newtongrange, Gorebridge, Mayfield, Lasswade, Loanhead and Penicuik.
Phase two will see a further £60 million invested, which will bring the council closer to delivering a total of up to 1500 new, affordable Midlothian homes.
