The SNP Holyrood politician who promised to “have a word” with her party colleagues on the council, is delighted at their pledge to vote against closures.
Midlothian South MSP Christine Grahame made it clear where her loyalties lay.
She said: “I’m delighted, it’s the best outcome all round. I’m so glad for the communities, they deserve it.
“They have won, their arguments have been heard and now we move on to do better things in the community.
“I wanted to make it plain where my loyalties lay and if that helped in anyway I’m delighted. But they did it.
“It takes people power and that is really what did it.
“I think the consultation was ham-fisted, and I quite understand why communities thought decisions [to close buildings] had been made.”
