Mum raped in her home by net date

A MUM was raped by a man she met through an internet dating website after a night out.

Sean Melville, 36, had drunk a large quantity of vodka and lager in a pub in Bathgate.

Advocate depute Susanne Tanner, prosecuting, said the pair had a row at the mother-of-two’s home because she didn’t make him anything to eat.

Melville asked the 37-year-old if she loved him then attacked her. The woman told him to sleep in the spare room and went to bed, but he followed her upstairs a few minutes later and demanded sex.

Ms Tanner described how Melville forced himself on the woman. He kept stopping to ask if she was afraid, then continued to have sex with her. He also committed other sex acts over three-and-a-half hours.

At the High Court in Edinburgh, Melville, of Dunfermline, Fife, admitted raping the woman on October 15, 2011.

Judge Lady Stacey remanded Melville in custody pending sentence next month.
