A MAYFIELD teen was “over the moon” after reprising Eva Cassidy’s posthumous hit Over The Rainbow to take the top vocalist title in the local heat of Rotary’s Young Musician of the Year contest.
Anne-Marie Hall said her choice of song was in memory of the version of the Wizard of Oz favourite introduced to radio listeners by Terry Wogan four years after the American star’s death from melanoma in 1996.
“I got a lot of encouragement from my parents and grandad to do the number, and was just so delighted and excited to be judged first,” said Anne-Marie, one of four students from Newbattle Community High School ranked by adjudicators.
The others were second placed Eireann McIntyre and Linzi Blacklaw and Amy Paterson, who were placed third equal.
