New creative agency finds two directors

A new agency set up to promote the interests of Edinburgh’s creative sector has appointed two directors.

Janine Matheson and Lynsey Smith will share the full-time post of director at Creative Edinburgh, which is set to be formally relaunched later this week.

Ms Matheson is already director of the not-for-profit Sierra Metro gallery, while Ms Smith runs a business providing a variety of business services to organisations.

The new organisation is set to initially focus on connecting businesses with each other, clients and opportunities.

Councillor Deidre Brock, the city’s culture leader, said: “The appointment of two experienced practitioners to this post will really drive forward our plans for Creative Edinburgh.

“A healthy creative sector is absolutely vital to Edinburgh’s economic prosperity and I’m very excited at the prospect of what we can deliver.”
