Morrisons has this week opened a new supermarket on Eskbank Road in Dalkeith, creating 140 local jobs in the town.

Ahead of carrying the Queen’s Baton through her hometown, Kerri Mackenzie leant her golden touch to the opening of the new store.

Triple gold medal swimmer Kerri, who competed in the 2014 Special Olympic held in Bath, was selected to carry the baton and open the store on Monday.

Her mum Gillian Ogilvie, who works in the store, said: “We’re so proud of what she achieved in Bath, and we think she’s a little inspiration to the town. She’s worked so hard on her swimming, training five nights a week, and it’s really nice Morrisons have recognised her achievements.”
